New principals named at three elementary schools
JUNE 1, 2020 - The Norman Board of Education today approved the district’s recommendation to hire new principals at three elementary schools.
Catherine Miller has been named principal at Cleveland Elementary, Andrea Crowe is the new principal at Monroe Elementary and Dr. Lori Connery will return to the district as principal at Washington Elementary.
“We are pleased to have hired three tremendous educational leaders who each have served students in our district for many years,” said NPS Superintendent Dr. Nick Migliorino. “These incredible principals have demonstrated their passion for serving youth as well as their commitment to Norman. We are fortunate to have such such strong, compassionate leaders who have dedicated their lives to preparing and inspiring students to achieve their full potential.”
Cleveland Elementary Principal Catherine Miller began her career in Oklahoma City Public Schools before joining Norman Public Schools in 2003. She served as a first-grade teacher and reading interventionist at Jefferson Elementary before joining Cleveland Elementary in 2018 as assistant principal. She has been the school’s interim principal since 2019. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Oklahoma.
Monroe Elementary Principal Andrea Crowe has worked in Norman Public Schools since 2016. She joined the district as a school psychologist and has served as Eisenhower Elementary’s assistant principal since 2017. Prior to joining Norman Public Schools, she served as a student psychologist in Edmond and also Round Rock, Texas. Crowe holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s degree in school psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma. She earned administration certification in educational leadership from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Washington Elementary Principal Dr. Lori Connery began her education career in 1998 and previously spent 17 years in Norman Public Schools. Dr. Connery was the principal at Monroe Elementary for seven years and has also been an assistant principal at Roosevelt Elementary and Whittier Middle School. She most recently served as a school support specialist with the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Dr. Connery holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Supervision from the University of Oklahoma. She earned a master’s of education degree in school counseling from East Central University and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Cameron University.
All three principals have earned accolades for their work and have advanced public education in Norman by spearheading forward-thinking projects at their schools and serving on various education committees focused on enhancing services to students.
