Norman School Board honored
January is School Board Recognition Month and an opportunity for local schools and communities to honor Oklahoma’s more than 2,700 elected school board members for their dedication to children and schools.
In Norman Public Schools, five school board members work collaboratively to develop policies and make decisions on complex educational and social issues impacting the entire community. They bear responsibility for the annual budget, about 16,000 students and 1,800 employees, as well as all district and school facilities.
“Providing our community’s children with a high-quality education is the most important investment we can make,” said Dr. Joe Siano, superintendent of Norman Public Schools. “We’re exceptionally proud of our district, and our success can be attributed to the tremendous leadership we have in our board. School Board Recognition Month is a perfect time to show our appreciation for these community leaders and celebrate the accomplishments of our elected board members.”
